Privacy policy

We (Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission or the Commission) collect personal information from you, including information about your:

  • name
  • contact information
  • interactions with us.

We collect your personal information to allow you to register for, and use, our online Open Government Partnership (OGP) discussion platform, Delib Dialogue. If you don't wish to use this platform, but still want to submit an idea, you can do so by emailing us ogpnz@publicservice.govt.nz. However, this means others will be unable to see your idea or comment on it.

This information is collected on our behalf by Delib Ltd as we use their online platform to run this process.

To take part in the discussion, you need to register with the site. Participants will be required to provide a username and email address. The username will be made public along with the comments made in the Dialogue. Please consider this when choosing a username.

Providing this information is optional. If you choose not to enter your email address, we'll be unable to register you to use this platform.

If you register with us as a participant, you can choose to opt in to receive email communications from us on OGP matters. This may include being asked to expand on the ideas submitted, and invitations to be involved in developing commitments. We may also need to use your email for administrative purposes, such as resetting your password, or for moderation purposes.

The purpose of the platform is to hear and record the views and opinions of New Zealanders on open government. We may share your views and opinions with government organisations as they develop commitments and actions in the National Action Plan. This information may also be used to help New Zealand to deliver on its National Action Plans, and to evaluate our progress, including on New Zealand’s participation in OGP.

Traffic data is collected anonymously for the purposes of analysing visitor usage patterns; however, none of this data can be associated with your individual user identity within the dialogue. The Commission may use these analytics to evaluate the levels of public engagement achieved. Please also see Delib’s policy on their use of cookies.

Participants are reminded that the Dialogue is a public forum. Participants should therefore not post personally identifiable information such as telephone numbers on this website. See our moderation policy and terms of use for more information.

The record of the views and opinions posted on the Delib Dialogue or provided to us in other ways will be a public record and will be retained by the Commission in accordance with the Public Records Act 2005.

The information on record of these views and opinions may also be requested under the Official Information Act 1982 or by a Parliamentary Select Committee or Parliament in response to a Parliamentary Question.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
